I had an exhibit at a local cafe, Pranah in Newtown. It was fun hanging up all the artworks!

An art competition I entered to find new "Emerging " artists in Wellington. I was a finalist and had my entry "Adoring Rosie" on display, for sale, for a week. it was great fun!

I sold this little canvas painting to the mother of one of my high school friends. I think it was the first painting she had ever bought!

This is my mums favourite painting. It is the only painting I think I will keep in my room. I created it by accident actually at about one in the morning a few months ago. I love accidents in paintings! they're always the most exciting to look at. I started wiping away paint and that created a washed out feel especially to her face where the red pigment is. her hands were not painted, but wiped away from the damp existing paint underneath. Then I gave her fingernails a coat of red. The black puss is my Dads cat, Freddy, and she loves hay bags! This painting was created by wiping off an under painting that hadn't completely dried yet. You may be able to see a faint outline of a woman lying down looking up at the starry night. I love it when you don't quite know the outcome of a painting. I don't like painting from photos..the imagination is far more exciting and unpredictable!

Sold to a dear friend of mine
Two women and their animals. Sold through gallery
I like them!

Painting of two women

It didnt take me long to complete this painting! I like it. Sometimes it takes a long time to complete a painting, but when a painting is done fast and fresh, it's a good feeling. This one took me only half an hour I think!

An unfinished painting

A painting I never finished. many of my friends loved the bottom right hand corner cat! Sometimes it takes me a long time to find an idea for a painting. I initially sketch an image on a canvas with black acrylic paint, but only to cover it up again with white paint becasue I wasn't satisfied with the sketch.

My painting inspiration

I am inspired by my most favourite painter of all time, Ernst Ludwig Kirchner who was a German Expressionist painter. His paintings are bold, vibrant and absolutely stunning. He commited suicide when the Nazis branded his works as degenerate art. He shot hiself in the heart with a pistol. This is his most famous painting called "Five Women on the Street" painted with oils in 1913. Isnt it the work of a genius?

This painting was sold in Wellington in the Quality Comfort hotel on Upper cuba Street. I wonder who the buyer was!

A sold painting at a local cafe

This painting sold recently in a local cafe.

At the dentists

Another obsession with the dentists! This painting was created recently.

A few small face paintings

A few simple paintings I created in the middle of 2012. I sold the bottom two paintings to a lovely man and woman. Apparently the woman who I didn't meet came into the gallery, paid for it and walked out with it! i wish I met her.

The pain of wisdom teeth removal

In this acrylic painting on a small canvas, I have tried to capture the pain and horror of the removal of wisdom teeth. The dentists look really evil and determined to remove the mature teeth. My dentist in real life was a lovely man who was really nice and not evil looking at all. I think he was from Egypt, or somewhere around there.

The devil and the flosser

I never used to floss my teeth, but now that I do, my oral hygiene is pretty grand! the blood always put me off when I flossed. but now I know that if you see lots of blood on the floss it's a sign that you have gum disease! Sold to a great friend of mine :)
A change from my usual type of painting. A nice calm painting!
My recent painting involving birth! My sister's friend gave birth in late July this year and I got inspired to paint what it would be like having a baby. I'd imagine it would hurt like hell and give you a few tears down there too. My best friend is a nurse and she has seen first degree tears to about fourth degree tears. I used Pebeo acrylic student paint to create this work. I wont use anything else because I absolutely adore their plastic see through tubes of paint! I don't like squeezing tube of paint from a metal tube. So much paint is wasted at the end, and you can't cut them open easily like plastic tubes. I also find that this paint is just as good as the flash Golden brand. I have a yellow Golden paint tube, but refuse to use it now that it has a toxic chemical in it that damages your skin over time. I used to use oil paints while I was at Elam, but found that they were too messy for me and the clean up process took ages. One day when I give birth myself  ( probably will never happen) I will show my child this painting and how painful the birthing process was.

This is my very first post on my new blog! This is my recent painting based on the experience I had at the dentists getting my wisdom teeth removed. It was both exciting and excruciating!
